The Welland Sports Stadium at the Welland Sports Complex was built for baseball in 1989 and was home to the Welland Pirates Professional Baseball team from 1989-1994.
The Pirates were a Short-Season affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates and played in the historic New York-Penn League from June until September.
The stadium features a main concourse area that is covered and overlooks the playing field. The seating area, including two lawn sections,
can hold approximately 2,500 spectators. This lit diamond has symmetrical dimensions of 330 feet down the lines and 400 feet to straight away centre.
This stadium is equipped with two change rooms, coaches rooms, umpire room, administration office, ticket booth, a spacious press box, and a concession stand.
